# Your meals. Analyzed on your iPhone.

Describe a meal or add a photo. In Private mode, Apple Foundation Models analyzes it on a compatible iPhone, without sending content to the cloud. Text works on iOS 26+; photos on iOS 27+.

## How it works

Your phone does the computing, not a server. The task text never reaches a cloud provider, and once the model is downloaded, the result doesn’t depend on internet.

1. **You type a description** — For example of a meal.
2. **The model prepares an answer** — The Apple model on your iPhone works on your text.
3. **Fitaily checks the result** — If an ingredient is unclear, it does not invent values.
4. **You get a suggested entry** — The log entry waits for your confirmation.

_Fitaily has no model of its own. It uses Apple Foundation Models from the system._

## What runs locally

Text tasks on iOS 26 or later, meal photos on iOS 27 or later — in Private mode, on a compatible device.

- **Meal description** — Ingredients, portion, calories and macros.
- **Meal photo** — In Private mode on iOS 27+ and a compatible iPhone.
- **Activity** — Calories, hydration and recovery.
- **Recipe from a description** — From text to a finished recipe.
- **Food names** — Cleanup and correction.
- **Product search** — An estimate suggestion.

## On-device AI — requirements for text and photos

Five conditions, all at once. Fitaily checks them on every analysis.

- An iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence
- iOS 26 or later
- Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings
- The model downloaded
- Your AI consent given in the app

## No silent switching

> When the model is unavailable, Fitaily doesn’t reach for the cloud. The analysis stops and you get a clear hint on what to do. This is deliberate: local mode should be private every time, not only when it happens to work.

## Frequently asked questions

**Does on-device AI need internet?**

No, as long as your device meets the requirements and the model is downloaded. The analysis is never faked by the cloud.

**Does it need Premium?**

No. You only need a compatible device and system.

**Does Fitaily use its own AI model?**

No. It uses Apple Foundation Models from the system.

**Which devices support it?**

Compatible Apple devices with a supported system, Apple Intelligence turned on and the model downloaded. Full requirements: Compatibility.

**Is AI consent required?**

Yes. Both AI modes, including the local one, need your consent in the app.

**Can meal photo analysis run on-device?**

Yes. Private mode supports meal photos on a compatible iPhone with iOS 27 or later. On iOS 26, on-device AI supports text tasks.
